It was really fun, actually. The library is an interesting place. I'm pretty much going to be working to the summer reading club table the whole time, but that's great because you get to talk to the kids and give out prizes and stuff! And I also saw a bunch of random people I knew. Here's one conversation.
Monday, June 8
First day at the library
Guy: What are you doing?
Me: ...Working.
Guy: Why?
Me: It's not like I have anything else to do.
Guy: ...Have fun.
It was actually kinda funny. The work was pretty easy most of the time, except at the end, when this family with FIVE kids came to turn in their logs...reading logs.
I had to sign all of their papers, write all of their names and ages and stuff down, get them to decorate their little Texas pictures to put on the window, and give them all their prizes. It was insane, and they were going crazy with the sharpies, so I had to stop them before they ruined the table. But it was fun. And, it turns out my cousin is volunteering, and so is a guy she knows. They both start at the end of my shift, and it's their first day too. This is how the introduction went:
Library Lady: Kristin, this is one of our other volunteers.
Me: She's my cousin.
LL: Oh, that's nice! So you already know each other!
-other volunteer guy walks in-
LL: Kristin, this is "other volunteer guy"
Me: Hi.
Him: Hi.
LL: "Kristin's cousin", this is "other volunteer guy".
Cousin: I know, we go to school together.
It was funny, since we all pretty much knew each other. I think it'll be really fun, too. I only worked two hours or so, but it didn't even seem that long! And I didn't get bored at all. I actually can't wait to go back Wednesday, when I might stay longer to help with this kid program stuff, since that's that's the day they do all that stuff.
So after I finished, around twelve fifteen, my and my mom and my brother went to Cici's...it was good.
Then, starting Friday, I think, I have my pole vault camp think. My coach actually called my house yesterday to make sure I wanted to do it, which was kinda weird. I've actually always wanted to pole vault, but it's not exactly the type of thing you can just randomly ask to do, because it's hard to teach and stuff like that.
So I guess I'm done with this random super long post for now. By the way, if I find someone funnier than my brother this summer, I'll make sure to tell you. But I'm not sure that's going to happen. Today in the car, he was singing this song about his "boogie shoes", and the voice he was using actually sounded like a country music star or something. It was so hilarious!
I think I should stop typing now. But it's not like I really have anything else to do. Maybe I'll type. Or play Sims. My cousins, yes, the one mentioned above and her brother, are spending the night tonight. It is going to be fun, but I probably won't post.
Stopping now.
Kris.
